Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has received a formal invitation to visit China. Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song on Tuesday handed over a formal invitation to Prime Minister Oli to visit China on behalf of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang.
According to Foreign Ministry sources, Ambassador Chen handed over the invitation letter from Chinese Premier Li to Prime Minister Oli via Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal on Wednesday afternoon.
The Chinese side had earlier proposed the December 2-6 for a visit. After receiving the official invitation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started preparations accordingly.
If the visit goes as per the invitation, this will be Oli's third visit to China as the Prime Minister. When Oli became the Prime Minister for the first time in 2072 BS and for the second time in 2074 BS, he visited the northern neighborhood.
Oli, who has received a formal invitation from the northern neighbor, has not yet been invited by the southern neighbor India. However, Oli had a sideline meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the course of attending the 79th United Nations General Assembly in late September.
