Cabinet entrusts Energy Ministry to resolve disputes relating to power tariffs

Kathmandu, Nov. 10: The government has given a nod to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation to resolve the dispute relating to the power tariffs from those using the electricity from the dedicated feeder and trunk lines.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held this evening at the official residence of the Prime Minister has given permission to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation to release the report prepared by the Girishchandra Lal commission, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung said.

Today's cabinet meeting also decided to ensure power supply within 24 hours to the industries that have witnessed power disruption after the tariffs row stating that power disruption has resulted in a direct impact on the economy due to limited production of the industries, reduced revenue collection and impact on employment creation.

Likewise, the cabinet meeting has decided to charge the industries as per the power tariff bills for the use of the dedicated feeder and trunk lines within 15 days.
