Bangladesh-Nepal Photojournalists Honored in Dhaka

Dhaka – A total of 37 photojournalists from Bangladesh and Nepal were honored at the prestigious Imperial Photojournalist Association Award 2026 held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
The event was organized to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of photojournalism. It was hosted by the Photojournalist Association Award 2026 Celebration Council at the Imperial Hotel International in Dhaka.


From Nepal, a 10-member delegation participated under the leadership of Pradip Raj Banta, President of the National Photojournalists Group Nepal. The honored Nepali team included Senior Vice President Lekh Bahadur “Sagar” Shrestha, General Secretary Ghanshyam Shrestha, Secretary Prabin Kulung Rai, Central Members Mukunda Kalikotey, Anup Pradhan, Haris Singh Nagal, Sindhuli Chapter President Uddhav Shrestha, Pokhara Chapter Secretary Prem Bahadur Thapa, and general member Ram Sharan “Ajay” Maharjan.
During the event, 27 photojournalists from Bangladesh received the Imperial Photojournalist Award 2026, while 10 photojournalists from Nepal were presented with special recognition.
Veteran Reuters photojournalist Rafiqul Rahman was specially honored for his remarkable 57-year contribution to photojournalism.
The program was graced by State Minister for Social Welfare of Bangladesh, Farzana Sharmin, as the chief guest. Distinguished guests included Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari, Managing Editor of The New Nation and Sports Editor of Kriralok Arshad Hossain, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Kader Goni Chowdhury, and President of the Bangladesh Photojournalists Association AKM Mohsin.
The event concluded with cultural performances and a gala dinner, strengthening professional collaboration and cultural ties between Nepal and Bangladesh in the field of photojournalism.
