(NFPJ) Nepal branch expansion in Sindhupalchowk

Kathmandu. The National Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) Nepal has been accelerating the expansion of its district branches. In the same context, it formed the Sindhupalchowk branch on Friday.

As part of the expansion of district branches under Bagmati Province, the first district assembly held in Chautara on Friday elected Bijay Nepal as president. Similarly, Mankaji Tamang was elected as vice president, Sagar Khadka as secretary, Prem Lama as treasurer, and Sujan Shrestha as a member. The newly formed executive committee will fill the remaining two vacant member positions.

The assembly, chaired by coordinator of the organizing committee Sundar Shirish, had Sagar Shrestha, Senior Vice President of NFPJ Nepal, as the chief guest; Dhruba Dangal, President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Sindhupalchok, as special guest; and notable presence of the group’s Central Secretary Prabin Rai, Central Member Sushil Kumar Shrestha, Bagmati Province President Rajendra Gajurel, Province Secretary Kumar Shrestha, President of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Bagmati Province Yubaraj Shrestha, representatives of journalist organizations, social workers, and active journalists.

Addressing the program, chief guest Shrestha expressed belief that NFPJ, which has been emphasizing professional photojournalism amid the increasingly challenging situation in journalism, and the newly formed Sindhupalchok branch would be distinctive in themselves. He stated that the role of photojournalists would be unparalleled in the overall development of the district's tourism sector, and that NFPJ would move forward in the coming days according to its set goals.

Likewise, special guest Dhruba Dangal, President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Sindhupalchowk, said that the formation of the branch in the district is positive in itself and also expressed readiness for collaboration between the Federation and NFPJ.

Addressing the program, Rajendra Gajurel, President of the NFPJ Bagmati Province Committee, clarified the important role of photojournalists in recent times in the promotion of tourism. He said that the district branch would actively carry out its activities for the overall tourism development of Sindhupalchok. He further stated that the provincial and central committees have been conducting various types of training and other activities from time to time to enhance the capacity of photojournalists.
